Go Green: Huge Turnout!
The Ojai Valley Green Coalition put out the call for volunteers this evening at the Go Green: Next Step meeting at Chaparral Auditorium. The response was tremendous, with over 130 citizens coming out to join a committee, buy a t-shirt and contribute to the community they love. Give yourself a big round of applause for being a part of the solution. Our work has just begun.

Wow! I am so happy to hear that over 130 people showed up. Equally impressive is that your Post is clocked at 8:22 PM. Is the meeting already over? I will be calling Vivian Browne at 798-7196 to join a committee.

Nope, I left a bit early. I believe that it should be winding down around 9pm. Great to know you are aboard, Suza, thanks!

This was a very motivating evening...it was exciting to talk to people who share the same goals, and know that we will make change happen!

Tell us more! Is the City going to get serious about implementing the Bicycle Pedestrian Master Plan? Will there be safe routes to school? Will there be a parking moratorium? Will Ojai lead the way and phase out all meat, milk and eggs from factory farms, the greatest contributors to global warming on the planet? Will people finally Drive Less, Eat Less Meat, hang their clothes out on a clothes line, bring their canvas bags to the market and blow their noses in cloth hankies like Helen Caldicott? Tell the old folks like me who are burned out on years and years of going to meetings, some till past midnight, what are the people of Ojai actually going to do?

Suza, I thought of you last night while I was at the meeting, remembering how hard your worked on these issues and how much *&@% you took for being out there like that. It felt good to see so many people showing up to work for the kinds of things you talked about back then...

GROUP PROCESS QUESTION-THIS WAS A MOST INSPIRING MEETING- IS THERE A LISTSERVE WHERE WE CAN SEND OUT OUR AREA OF EXPERTISE? TOO MANY COMITTEES AND NOT ENOUGH TIME...

Hi Pete - for now, no listserv - there will be communication within each committee, and also we will be facilitating communication from the committees to the board, from the committee to the public, and from the main organization to the public. We'll also have a new website that will accommodate committee-level participation. Good to see you last night.

Thank you, Sally, for remembering how much*&@% I took! It will all be very funny when I write my memoir! Meanwhile, it's exasperating that after all this time, there is still no bike rack at the Post Office!

Did anyone take notes or does anyone have a report of what was discussed at the meeting? I've love to be updated!
