Just a quick comment for Lisa's Dishing Ojai post... I've had some great pastries at Oak Tree Bakery, and I look forward to my first lunch there. Thanks for the push!
another comment on the Oak Tree Cafe...I'm delighted with Ms Snyder's praise for this new restaurant and bakery in Ojai. Chef owner baker Carl seems totally dedicated to offering great food at very reasonable prices....and the coffee is the best in Ojai. Go on by and try it for lunch. He makes fresh pasta and pizza too...The restaurant is open every day but Monday.
Did Carl own another operation in the Valley before the Oak Tree Cafe? I thought maybe he was one of two who operated the little pastry in the little drive through in Mira Monte. Those pastries were great! Just curious.
Thanks Kenley. My son, daughter, and I used to walk over to the drive thru when we lived on the hill near it. We could not believe a pastry could be so scrumptious. I'm happy he has a new place in town. Is the old place still in use?
I think I heard Carl say he wants to have both places open...but am not sure the old place is still there or he's going to reopen it. It looks like he opened the Cafe on a real wing and a prayer. The food is great and the breads and bakery goods are the best, so I've been trying to spread the word among my friends. No one's been able to make a real success at that particular site....too far from the real downtown core I guess. Anyway...try it....especially the tuna sandwich!

I'll second that. I've gone by there many times on my bike but have yet to go inside.
