Summer And Her Citizens ...

'City' Councilman? Or distraught Citizen?
In this case, neither, simply the herald of Summer ... adolescent
rattle snake making her way back to these fields of plenty.
A reminder to all, that "all our relations" expect the same mindfulness,
respect, love -- that we require in OUR journeying through the world.
This gentle friend appeared in our garden yesterday to visit, and
we scooped her up with a shovel, and put her in a big covered bucket,
and took her down the road a mile or so to the wilderness where
she might live out a longer, happier, life.
So ephemeral the lives, of these our siblings who look to us for
their futures ...

Hey, there's a snake in the grass (and that is not a political dig). Well, maybe a little.

"In many cultures, Snake has been a symbol of life for thousands of years... The Kundalini, or life force, is represented by a Snake rising up through the spine. The way Snakes shed their skin when growing is an apt metaphor for how we shed old ways and habits a we grow into higher spiritual energy. If Snake has come to you, note the condition in which it has appeared...If it is a young Snake, or even an egg, you are being reminded to take a good beginning that you have already made, and keep it moving upwards." From one of my favorite books, "Animal Energies" by Gary Buffalo Horn Man and Sherry Firedancer. Thank you Millennium Twain for moving the adolescent snake back into the wilderness. As Beatrice Wood used to tell me when I was ten years old and watched her carrying spiders outside: "Every creature loves its Life as much as you do." In the Sacred Circle of Creation, no life form is placed above another. All are equal and each has special knowledge to share with us. Namaste.

wonderful deja vu -- walk-don't run -- always reminds me of the 'day the music died' in 1959, leading up to the rebirth of the music in the 1960s.
here in the local 'aughts' -- the 00's of Ojai -- seems we are awakening to a Valley-wide collaborative consciousness ... an end of the 'them against us', neighborhood against neighborhood, politician/faction against politician/faction.
perhaps we have grown up!
to become a Village/Family of green, healthy, peaceful, nurturing, whole values ... diverse in orchard and 'orchestra', population.
a garden renaissance, a slowing and quieting of the traffic, a reduction in the construction din?
song and artistry and performance and celebration?
voices returning, reborn?
