Three points of interest…
Chain Store Ordinance Petition Signing will be at Lavender Inn tonight from 5-7pm, in conjunction with Local Computer Heroes – come on down to get free computer, internet and online business advice. Or just pop in to sign the petition if you are an Ojai resident.
Yes, there’s a new look to The Ojai Post homepage. I wanted to move to a three-column layout to accommodate more information. I’ll be tweaking it over the next week or two, and then rolling it out to the rest of the site. I’m going to soften and narrow the color palette a bit. Any thoughts are welcome in the comments.
Don’t forget the 8th annual Village of Tales Storytelling Festival is coming to town! I hear great things in particular about the adult event.

Tyler, I love the three columns. Great improvement. Though you do mention it, I will comment that the text colors are a bit intense. Looking forward to the tweaks.

Someone double-posted an anonymous comment about the new look for the site, and two moderators deleted one each at the same time. Heh. Please repost if you get a chance.

Thank God. I thought I was having 60/70s flashbacks, no one was commenting on the change, I’m so relieved.

I like the tri columns format. The colours sorta blur my vision. Not that my vision is the best to begin with.

don’t like the new look at all.
previous layout was much easier to look at. important stuff jumped out.
this new look is very bland, homogeneous.
otherwise everything is great.

Ditto about the colors. Appreciate the Copyright notation. Hey, I have that same photo of Foothill Cragg! I climbed as high as that twig (twice) before I chickened out and had to come back down!

photo is from the swimming hole at the river bottom.

Wow, looks just like the wall off the Foothill/Pratt/Fule Break Trail.

Hey, how about using the Creative Commons language instead of the straight copyright symbol?

Anonymous May 2, 2007 at 5:37 am

Have to admit – I also prefer the old version. I felt it was much simpler and therefore easier on the eye, the information felt more readily acessible and the format much more unique than all the other sites out there. But will eagerly get used to this new version because no matter what the visuals look like, the content just can’t be beat!! Thanks Tyler!

Hi Anonymous -
interesting that you feel the old format was more unique – it was the default template for Movable Type, which is the software that powers this site. great feedback though, thanks to everyone’s two cents.
Hi Kenley -
I’ll explore what level of Creative Commons attribution would be most appropriate for us.

I enjoy witnessing the evolution of The Ojai Post.
Tyler, in relation to the new look, how about seeing what a dark green looks like or a color that compliments the trees, in place of the purple, or perhaps a color that compliments the rocks (stone people). I enjoy the organic nature of the design, however the double image on top makes me feel dizzy and queazy. I would love to see what it looks like with the image you have, although replace the reflection image with the color of the background, which is white.
