Do we live in an amazing valley or what? This is where our attention needs to be placed....doing so ensures our future, and, calms the mind.

Tyler, thanks for posting this video. Who's story is this? Fictitious? I've lived here close to 8 years and I am continually enthralled by it's beauty and how this land and the people have gotten inside of me, I can only imagine the connection those of you that were born and still live here have for our magnificent valley.

Hey Raymond - nope, that's a local gentleman who has lived here his whole life. Hopefully, Ken Wright is reading and can give a little more background to the video.

What a voice.

Can't wait to see Hunter Lovins ! I hope I can get a seat !

An OVNews editorial by Kevin Clinton about activists having no jobs and too much time on their hands is degradingly false. Everyone I have worked and attended meetings with juggle careers, families,
modern life with participation in local politics. The other two city council candidates have worked all their lives and still are inclined to participate in local politics. Furthermore I haven't seen this particular writer's name until he offers criticism without solution.Myself, I have worked in various fields but have found my calling in land stewardship-saving one of the last magical and charming places. Also having depression,I believe largely stemming from current politics, making positive contribution is one remedy I recommend. Should employment preclude civicparticipation in social and environmental causes?
Without it the community is left wanting and eroded, resulting in lack and poor service by decision making representatives. So I
invite anyone suddenly finding their calling as naysayers of others actually working to contribute to Ojai's quality of life to do so constructively. PL

I was just returning on my walk when I noticed overhead a plane flying and emitting a long trail of white smoke. Two other trails ran parallel from previous runs. They were so long they stretched beyond the horizon. These are not ordinary vapor trails left by the burning of fuel. Something else is going on. The last trail was directly overhead. We citizens have the right to know what is going on in our airspace. What kind of chemicals are being tested, if that is the case? Ironically, I am posting this on "Go Green Ojai" with the summit coming up tomorrow. I will be there but I've got politics on my mind. Practically nothing is going to be solved unless we address the core political issue of government. It is a large part of the problem and the most pressing solution is political reform. The recall of Joe DeVito is ready to go. Joe is a symbol of Ojai's problem. He sued me as a DOE as a defendent in the lawsuit on initiatives; he voted for Los Arboles; he voted against the moratorium to block chain stores like Subway; he will do nothing to save Mallory Way; he did nothing to save Frostie. I personally like Joe but his policies are hurting Ojai. He deserves to enjoy his retirement. It is time for Joe to go. I personally favor recalling the whole council but one at a time, as they say. Joe is a symbol of the past that no longer serves the present needs of Ojai. Ojai deserves strong leadership in these times of peril, and I believe they will get worse unless we do something now. Isn't it time for a change in leadership? This thread is about going green which means nature friendly, not money friendly. Joe is part of the old guard whose main interest is in keeping Ojai green with money. That agenda no longer works in this age where the whole planet is threatened by the forces of moneyism. If the council had any balls at all, they would do something about the smoke trails overhead; at least speak out. They would at least speak out about the war in Iraq. They would be activists in fighting for a green Ojai; and more, for a rainbow Ojai. See ya tomorrow.

no jobs? i've got FOUR!

too much time on our hands? i'm also (until next friday) in COLLEGE full-time!

i also have a home to maintain, family events to attend, etc, etc, etc
JUST LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE.

activists are amongst the least sedentary people out there, and i'm boggled at how Mr. Clinton could miss that unless...he's never actually spoken to one. i know it was an "editorial", but even that's pushing the bounds of journalism into write-whatever-baseless-crap-you-want.

thanks for making me aware of this, Pete...i'm off to write my own editorial about how bicyclists are just too lazy to drive cars, and how City Council members are in it for the glory.

thanks, Bruce, for the video footage! is that Mark doing the audio voice?

count me in for the Green Coalition, and I will be there for the Summit tomorrow.

I have a modest Apple video workstation, with Final Cut Pro, and have made several videos in the past -- thus am offering my services in support of future videos.

your video, above, will likely appeal to the old boys here ... a love of the land really demonstrated. for the women, the Goddess Moon spirit, something very different would be helpful, and I am offering to help if your team wants to do it.

for that matter, I could ask our film-maker friend, who is doing the "Why Ojai" video -- her and her team might be interested! I will check to see how the "Why Ojai" video is progressing ... mitakuye oyasin,
