Nature, the Great provider

As we move into the early heat of summer, I am reminded of how fortunate we are to live near both salt and fresh water to cool our blood and bones. Though we have been in a draught this year and the preserve swimming hole off of Rice Rd. is dry, there are plenty of small soak spots along the Matilija/ Ventura river to quench oursleves in. Take a reprieve, give thanks to the ancestors of the land and be kind to nature who gives to us with such generosity.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for sharing this great photo and short reminder.
I just returned from a biz trip to New York City. While the visit was wonderful, and the experience unforgettable, I so anticipate that drive back from the 101 back into my Ojai Valley...

Too bad about the dry winter. That swimming hole off Rice Road was awesome last summer and fall.
