Bringing my bees back to Ojai from almonds. They've been up there near Fresno since the begining of February. Oranges are starting to bloom!

Need to make a trip out to Boccali's and sit out front and smell the orange blossoms!

Ahh! Spring at last.

It is important to have a common understanding of what is meant by “code enforcement.”

Code violations have everything to do with development, that's what the building code does, Jere. You are, by far, the worst report writer in the history of Ojai. Code enforcement means BUILDING CODE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How can someone like this be entrusted to manage a city????????????

Someone above, Lisa, mentioned orange blossoms-It was earlier today I was thinking of all the smells of Ojai that I am missing, orange blossoms are at the top.

Alyeska and I miss home. Spring has not arrived here yet, we still have a little snow left.Don't ever take Ojai for granted-I'm sure none of you do.

Oh how i miss Ojai in the spring.. The Orange Blossoms, AND the sun. (we dont get much of that here).

Orange blossoms are wonderful but walking in the riverbottom on the Ventura River Preserve the last few years I've discovered the sure-fire indicator that spring has arrived in Ojai. Precisely on March 21 this year and last, I saw the first stinkbug of the season on the trail. The swallows, contrary to popular belief, are not as consistent. They returned to the riverbottom March 6 last year but waited until March 22 this year. Maybe the new daylight savings time threw them off. :-)

I smelled the breath of Spring today, pollen rich, finally,
while running along Pennypack Creek. This beautiful creek with thousands of trees and abundant wildlife, empties into the Delaware River. Over this Creeks stands the oldest bridge in the U.S., built 1697 for Wm. Penn. Thousands use this two lane bridge daily.
When I run on or along that bridge, I think of those making history crossing over it, camping next to it while on historic journeys.
The only thing missing at this crossing is that sign that says "George Washington slept here".

We still miss the treks along the river bottom, making minature rock caves for little critters. ?Does anyone know if there is any water at all in the two swimming holes in the reserve?

I was out there yesterday and there is water still flowing through those two adjacent swimming holes but they're already turning green and looking not-too-appealing. We've had a whopping 6 inches or so of rain this year (since last July 1). I got a letter from the Meiners Oaks Water District urging all users to conserve water. I'm counting on some April showers but historically we get our rainfall and snow (what really fills the water table) in January and February.
