Elton Gallegly: Wells Fargo aids and abets terrorists

Representative Elton Gallegly authored a March 25, 2007 editorial on illegal immigration, which appeared in the Washington Times (a newspaper owned by Rev. Sun Myung Moon's Unification Church, which "aims at creating a global theocracy that Moon would control.").

Writes Gallegly:

...when Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and a few other banks aid and abet, at best, illegal immigration and, at worst, money laundering, drug running and terrorism, the federal government turns a blind eye.

Wells Fargo was even cited by the Treasury Department last year for "numerous and recurring deficiencies" in safeguarding against money laundering and terrorist activities. The violations were so egregious that Treasury Department staff recommended a public reprimand. Top officials, however, decided to slap Wells Fargo's wrist quietly and behind closed doors.

That's not surprising, considering the Treasury Department is also complicit in rules that aid and abet illegal, and potentially terrorist, activities.

Gallegly concludes with this:

We are a nation of immigrants, but we are also a nation of laws. The policies of Bank of America and Wells Fargo aid and abet lawlessness, and lawlessness should not be tolerated in the United States -- not from nationals of other countries nor from U.S. bank officials.

Personally, I will not do business with banks that aid and abet illegal activities.

Huh, I wonder if he has divested the "Keough - Wells Fargo" from his financial portfolio, which he disclosed in his United States House of Representatives Financial Disclosure Statement for the calendar year 2005 (PDF).

I don't know much about Mr. Gallegly, but your pointing out his chunk of hypocrisy, I conclude this to be more right wing 'do as I say but not as I do'. On the face of it, I agree with him in his article, but not for the same reasons. Personally, I don't have a problem with illegal Mexican emigrants, at least until we work out a much needed, regulated workers program. Until then, how can I tell them that they are not welcomed to make money here, as my ancestors did.

Of course, It's well known that my family came over on the Mayflower They had their Green Card, Travel Insurance, Shot Records, including one for polio,(that is the evidence that we are part Polish),Pass Port stamp with: "Outstanding Human Being-Make Way", as they passed Ellis Island, it was written my gggggggggggggdad saw an apparition, it was the future Duncan Hunter shaken his fist. Being the upright man my gggggggggggggdad was, He covered his daughters eyes, then promptly gave this apparition one of his 99.9% Irish fingers.

Upon arrival to the Americas, my gggggggggdad proceeded with operation Manifest Destiny

Elton Gallegly is a totally worthless sack of shit! No, that's too strong, he a sack of crap that's worth everything to the Bush Administration who begged him to run in the last election so they wouldn't lose a seat. Really--Karl Rove actually called him personally when Gallegly threatened to retire and begged him, or instructed him, to run one more time. Gallegly complied. Well now there's some rumblings that he might just retire after all mid-term. Apparently there is a health element, and for that I am sorry. At any rate, if he retires there will be a special election for his seat. Who should run? Jill Martinez, Brett Wagner, someone else? If Gallegly goes away (and he is), who do you want for your congressional representative for the 24th Congressional District of California?

?Is there in that list that is like Lois Capps? ?Have you ever watched or read how she gets her points across? You would think you were listening to Evan. There style is quite similar when pressed. I think she is great. Hmmm, I wonder.

Lois Capps is already the congresswoman from the 23rd. District in Santa Barbara.

Yes, I understand, I was just asking if any in the list of potential candidate proffered by you would be of the same mold as Lois Capps. The Hmm I wonder was a thought of Evan in 07, cause they, to me, have similar style and conviction. ?Isn't there a point in the 2 year term that when the Rep. leaves, that the Gov. can make the appointment?

Thanks

boy, i just realized how much i'm missing the boat...there's not gonna be another rhyming year for me to run in until 2011!

i actually dont pay a lot of attention to Ms. Capps, but i think i appreciate the comparison nonetheless. i suspect that i will run for some office, someday. i'll be 47 in 2027...perhaps that's a good time...

wait, scratch that.

while i enjoy public service and generally foster a belief that improving broken systems from the inside is a valuable effort, i strongly realize that the LAST thing that White, Male, American Politics needs is another white, male, american. therefore i withdraw myself from running for or holding a public political office, but would gladly put my talents and energies behind a woman or minority who would choose to do so.

Oh sh... My first campaign with my hands on it, and without one poli pole report, I'm out of a job.Thanks.

?Any one looking for a caring W.A.S.P. to run a campaign-no job to small,I'll hand out bills as well.?

I am looking.
