Indian Food Returns to Ojai
The A-1 Mart on El Roblar in Meiners Oaks is now serving homemade Indian food on weekends! Owned by the same folks who brought us India's Best in Mira Monte, the convenience store offers burritos and sandwiches every day of the week as well. Great vegetarian foods including dal, several different vegetable choices, naan bread, papadams (crunchy, spicy, Indian chips), even cardamon-y lemony rice pudding! They also offer curried and tandoori chicken, which I have not eaten so I can't offer comment.
Vegetarian Special for 2 $12.99 for 4 $22.99
Chicken Meal for 2 $14.99 for 4 $26.99

On an aside, Iron Pan on Matilija is no longer serving lunch, but is still doing dinner, including Indian Tuesdays. I've walked by and its been packed.

This is great news. I visited India's Best frequently and have missed them since they closed. I haven't tried the Iron Pan's Tuesday Indian feast. I was there last night, Monday and asked about it. It ranges from $16-19 per person.
Anyone been to this? Review?

I haven't been to the Iron Pan yet but a lady we met there today (owner? chef?) said you really need to call in reservations because they have had to turn people away.

yo,
At The Farmer and The Cook we have been serving Indian food every Thursday for a number of years. The food at the store is ALL ORGANIC and no meat is prepared in the kitchen.
