Oldies vs. Newbies - The Debate Rages On!
Tonight on Radio Ojai, my friend Matt and I finally touched on a topic that everyone here has a strong opinion about. Any way you slice it, it seems to bring little to the table except divisiveness and at times bitter disagreement. It’s a controversial subject tackled by yours truly, an Ojai resident of nearly 8 years, and Matt, who has been here practically his whole life.
We're talking about the Oldies vs. the Newbies in Ojai. But at the end of the debate, what truly matters most? For the answer, tune into Radio Ojai for the Ojai Moment with Lisa and Matt, then weigh in here (but be nice)!

Oh, please. Only someone who has lived here a mere eight years would believe that she, and she alone, has "finally" broached a topic that has been the subject of written and oral debate in the town before she was even born. If your poster believes her name in Ojai will be made by touting her bravado for tackling the tough issues, maybe she should not be adding the qualifying "be nice" to her self-advertisement. There is no whining in journalism.

I think perhaps she meant "finally" her radio show had tackled the issue. It does seem to be an ongoing debate...I wonder why, in such a small world, anyone thinks it is notable at all that some people come and go from place to place and some stay where their roots are?

Sometimes, when I am in an unfamiliar area, neighborhood dogs will bark at me. I could be on a bike, walking or jogging. When dogs do this, they are exhibiting territorial behavior. It is their job. They are sentries, warning the 'stranger' that they are being watched. Sometimes, these dogs can get jaded. Trapped in a yard or tied to a pole can be debilitating for most living beings.
So, as I jog down the road of life, occasionally, these jaded dogs bark at me from their various 'jails'. My goal is always to have compassion and gratitude for these sentries.
