Ventura Country Bicycle Master Plan!

this was my personal entry to the Master Plan,
as of 19 November 2006.

http://www.altaplanning.com/venturacountybikeplan/

it was composed from memory of our July Meeting with
the Ventura County Planning Group -- my memory of the
consolidated ideas of Kelly Pasco, David Klein and
myself of Oak Grove Cycles.

please circulate and add more ideas for this plan!

I am with Oak Grove Cycles, at Oak Grove School in Meiners
Oaks. Kelly Pasco, David Klein and I attended the Ventura
County Bike Route planning meeting in July, and met Brett
and Mary.

We are supporting a growing dialog to make the Ojai Valley
a bicycle- and child- and pedestrian- and elderly-friendly
community. We are seeking policies which let the world
and the drivers here know that we love and respect and want
children, elderly, pedestrians and bicyclists -- and for
them to feel safe.

Thus we want laws and signs throughout the Valley that slow
down the traffic, and make all the traffic observant of and
staying clear of the bicylists and pedestrians. Reduced
speeds on roads, and reduced speeds in the presence of
pedestrians and bicyclists. Also mandatory slow-passage
around and distance from bicyclists and pedestrians.

Encouraging happy traffic, and happy visitors to this
sacred valley. Welcomed by happy and healthy residents.

We are also specifically seeking dedicated routes from
Highway 150 all the way up La Luna Avenue and Rice Road.
Ditto along Lomita and El Roblar Roads.

Also from the bikepath up Montgomery Street to Grand Avenue,
and all the way out Grand Avenue to Meditation Mount.

Please note that this is just a first draft proposal ...
we have only just got online at Oak Grove Cycles and are
working with the community to create a whole and loving
re-newed portrait and reality of A'wha'y (Ojai) the Chumash
Valley of the Goddess Moon.

Let us know how we can help you further.

For all our sacred relations,

Portland, OR is very bicycle-friendly and has enacted many of the laws you mentioned.

I would caption this:

Nyght of the Living Cyclysts

"taking back the bike!"

ooo oo o ...

purr-haps...

"Nite of the Bike"? or "Knights of the Bikes"?

City Planner Katrina Schmidt responded by inviting us, and all the public, to get involved in the new Update of the Ojai City Bicycle Master Plan.

Here is her invitation:

Hi all,

The City of Ojai is also updating its Bicycle Pedestrian Master Plan.

If you want to be involved in this process, please contact Heidi Whitman,
Contract Analyst for the Ojai Public Works Department, who is
spearheading this effort.   She can be reached at (805) 640-2560.
