Bart's Books & Childhood Memories

Monica Bartindale, daughter of the original owners of Bart's Books, remembers her childhood amongst the stacks in a recent blog entry:

My parents had provided me with the most wonderful playground. My playground had books and comic books of every imaginable kind, there were jewels that sparkled, gleamed and teased this young girl.

It's nearly impossible to speak of Ojai without a nod to Bart's. I've made reference here and here on Ojai Post.

The recently loss of Bart's hertitage oak has transformed the place - it just isn't the same without it.

Thank you, Monica, for sharing your story.

Lisa - what a great find! Love the black and white photos on Monica's blog. The oak might be gone but the spirit of Bart's is alive and well.

I should be the one saying Thank-you! It always excites me when I see something about my childhood playground. I will be posting a few more photographs in a couple of days. Monica Bartindale - Allshouse
