Sunday Morning
I roll over to watch the squirrels do their oak tree gymnastics outside the bedroom window, and listen as they bark at a scrub jay. My yellow Labrador, Sydney, is less concerned about the critters stirring outside than getting her way with her master. She circles the bed again and again, her nails clicking on the floor, her tail wagging furiously and her nose jabbing into his hand. Finally he says the magic words, “Okay!” And she leaps onto the bed, rousing me to wakefulness with her cold wet nose on my cheek. Bill rubs her ears and she lays her whole 75 pounds across his chest and sighs heavily.
Soon Bill will be making blueberry waffles and I will be surfing the Sunday morning pundits, but for now, I’ll enjoy the squirrels, the oak trees, the scrub jays and the furry four-legged beast who has made this our Sunday morning ritual for nearly 13 years.
What’s your Sunday morning ritual?

It used to be a nice mug of freshly ground coffee, but I've been off the brew for almost five months. So we did the green juice this morning. Almost as good. :)

The Farmers Market. I love the fresh greens and fruits - was delighted to see this week that persimmon season has begun. After that, I love to go home and go back to bed. There is nothing more luxurious than the freedom to be doing...nothing at all!

I love to have a pot of coffee and read the paper or internet news. Then I sit in a hot bath and listen to Harry Shearer's Le Show. If I'm lucky I don't talk to anyone 'til noon.

That's a no brainer. How could I pass up David's home made, down to the grinding of the grain, sourdough pancakes with bananas, blueberries, strawberries and walnuts with maple syrup and yogurt at Farmer and the Cook in Meiner's Oaks. Chased with a mug of fresh chai and good friends it's what I look forward to all week.

With an 18month old daughter we're up by 7am but manage to be lazy until 8am and then it's up and off to church and breakfast/lunch. Can't remember the last time we slept in, read the paper and had no plans....hmmm, maybe this Sunday!!

Here in Galveston, Hal and I sleep in until 8am, grab the first of many cups of java, watch the CBS Sunday Morning Show then read the Houston Chronicle and Galveston Daily News. That seems to last us at least until almost noon when we realize we've been way too lazy and it's time to start the day!
