Food Solutions Workshop
Heather McKenzie, Colon Hydrotherapist in Ojai, presents Food Solutions, a four-session motivational workshop on creating healthier eating habits.
This course is a new offering, aimed at individuals who know they could be eating healthier but aren’t reaching their goals. McKenzie will provide information about specific choices (such as eliminating allergenic foods like wheat) and each participant will commit to making three changes over the four weeks. Results will be measured quantitatively through checklists of symptoms (such as headaches and irritability) that people may experience due to unhealthy eating.
McKenzie decided to offer this material after embarking on a 20 day clean-up of her own diet this past summer. “The difference in my energy level and mood was really surprising to me. I found myself waking up before my alarm went off and staying productive later in the day. And I was so happy! I want to share this experience with others. Everyone should understand the impact food has on their physical and mental states. Once you get it, you can make educated choices. I used to feel deprived if I didn’t eat dessert every time I went out to dinner. Now I know that eating that cake may deprive me of my energy and good mood the next day.”
Additionally, McKenzie knows that most people begin each year feeling unwell. Although current studies show that the average weight gain from Thanksgiving to Christmas is only about 1 – 2 pounds, the types of foods we eat still take their toll. McKenzie hopes class participants will “Enter the holiday season with a healthy food-style and enter the new year without guilt. If you have a solid foundation of nutritious eating and a sense of wellbeing, you won’t stray so far off course during the holiday season. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to greet January 2007 with enthusiasm and joy?”

I was invited by Tyler to post a comment on this because I am representing a website that is promoting food solutions of their own.
Eat Better America is a free web site designed to provide useful nutrition and fitness advice in addition to making eating better easier and fun.
The site suggests diet and exercise tips for individuals concerned with heart health, diabetes, weight management and vitality.
A recent addition to the site, “Healthify My Recipe,” allows registered users to submit their calorie-laden, diet-detrimental recipes for “recipe makeover.” And just in time for Thanksgiving, Eat Better America has healthified recipes for skinny mashed potatoes and gravy and a trimmed-down pumpkin pie.
Please note that the site was designed in Flash so you will need to download that application in order to see it. I hope that you’ll like EatBetterAmerica.com and that you’ll share it with others.
If you have any questions or comments about the site, please feel free to contact me directly. I’d be happy to help.
Best,
Melanie
