2020 VISION STATEMENT BY DENNIS LEARY
From a survey of Ojai voters, in answer to the question: "If you had three wishes for Ojai, what would they be?"
1. INCLUSIVENESS. Ojai includes all people. No one is marginalized, or left out. All citizens communicate and interact with each other, with civility, dignity, and peace.
2. OASIS. Ojai retains its small town character, not becoming a cookie cutter town with national chains and big condos. Ojai is a small, charming and natural shangrila.
3. TRANSPARENCY, ACCOUNTABILITY AND OPENNESS. Government operates for the good of all people, not
for special interests with conflicts of interest.
4. ENERGY. Instead of having excessive traffic, noise and air pollution, Ojai is clean and energy independent, using solar power for heating, cooling, and transportation.
5. TOURISM. All roads lead to Ojai, as people from all over the world come here for health, inspiration and peace.
6. LEADERSHIP. Ojai is a model community for small town character, small is beautiful, and small is abundant.
7. INFRASTRUCTURE. Ojai is a model bicycle and pedestrian community where trollies are frequent, with benches for the elderly, and safe roads and crosswalks.
8. TRUTH. Because Ojai is true to herself, abundance, grace and beauty flow to her, enriching her citizens, who share their gifts with the surrounding world.
