Thanking the Day Fire Personnel
Hi Ojai - I'll have updates from the City Council meeting and ongoing fire coverage tomorrow, but wanted to give this project some attention.
In the public discussion, Ojai resident Prem Childs suggested a banner honoring the firefighters and personnel fly in downtown Ojai for the next couple months while they are still in town (yes, recovery will take quite some time, and they will be largely based out of Soule Park). His suggestion was that the banner be relatively short in height, and fly below whatever active event banner is flying at Signal and Ojai Ave. The City Council was agreeable to the idea.
He has already done the research and pricing, and needs $250 to get the banner made. If you'd like to contribute, please call Prem at 805-640-0264.

That's a great idea. I'm definitely going to contribute.
I've also been wondering if there are any other ways we can support the firefighters right now. Any ideas?

Hi Valerie - someone at the City Council meeting said that personal notes of thanks are much appreciated. Maybe a batch of cookies. How about a Thumbs Up in the OVN? Leaving your note here didn't hurt either! Thanks, Tyler

HI TYLER, HAS THE MONEY BEEN RAISED FOR THE FIREMEN'S BANNER AND WILL THE CITY PUT IT UP? IF SO, LET'S DON'T ANY MORE TIME. HERITAGE FINANCIAL WILL PAY FOR ANY REMAINING
COSTS FOR THE BANNER SO WE CAN GET IT UP ASAP. PLEASE RESPOND, AS WE ARE ANXIOUS FOR THEM ALL TO SEE OUR APPRECIATION. I HAVE OTHERS THAT WILL CONTRIBUTE IF IT WILL ASSIST IN ANY WAY. THANK FOR ALL YOU DO.

Wanda - That's a great gesture - please immediately contact Prem at the phone number in the post above, and let him know the great news! If you could also let him know that you read about it on The Ojai Post, that would be great. Thanks!

Wanda & Heritage Financial:
very thrilling to see a local merchant jump right in so generously! i have no doubts that enough individuals would have come together to raise that money, but you've tapped into the critical issue of time. THANK YOU so much for helping our community to speak our thanks this way, and in such a timely manner!
