London Singer/Songwriter Steve Dagleish to play Coffee Connection

Josephine Falvo told me about this one:

"Our best friends from London, Carolyne and Steve, are arriving into Ojai on 9/13. Steve is an accomplished and talented musician with a very "British" sound."

"He is performing at Coffee Connection on Friday night, 9/15 at around 8.00 p.m. (We are currently preparing some flyers to distribute around town.) The cost will be $6.00 per person and will include coffee and dessert. So....after dinner, you can look forward to coffee, dessert, great original music and you get to see your friends and perhaps make new ones. You might want to get there early and bring a cushion as seating is limited."

London Singer/Songwriter Steve Dagleish plays Coffee Connection
Friday September 15th 2006

London singer/songwriter Steve Dagleish will showcase his debut CD “Angel to Ancient” and other songs in one of Ojai’s most intimate venues. Dagleish is “en-route” to New York City’s Mo Pitkins, where he will take the stage as part of the 2006 M.E.A.N.Y. Festival.

“Coffee Connection”, opened just six months ago in Ojai, provides the ideal setting for Dagleish’s intimate blend of acoustic finger-picked guitar and that very “British” vocal!

“Musically, (Dagleish) harks back to the influences of his formative years – the folk/blues of Dylan, Nick Drake and seminal lEnglish finger-pickers Davey Graham and Donovan. Lyrically too he's steeped in reflection – JFK, Yorkshire Towns, and in 'Angel to Ancient', the title track from his homespun debut album, an imagistic patchwork of childhood reminiscence.” The Hackney Gazette, London.

Dagleish recently performed at London’s premier acoustic venue Bush Hall, to rave reviews:

“What came next was one of those special and very rare gigs where I didn't know what to expect and the sheer quality of the music completely blew me away. Steve's songs are exceptional - melodic and lyrical with a real kick to them. A couple of the songs are still running through my head and I don't mind them being there at all. They really are that good. A triumph!" James Wallace, London

“When streets need sweeping, fires extinguishing, boils lancing or deals brokering, 'artist' can seem an awfully indulgent profession. Is that what threw little Stevie Dagleish when asked - what do you want to be when you grow up? After 30 years in the City the West Hampstead trader boldly decided to jack it in and set off in pursuit of the song writing muse. Maybe he's eaten his greens, paid his dues or said his prayers, maybe it's a shift on the perspiration/inspiration nexus, but tonight, as the disparate elements coalesce, he must feel justified.” The Kilburn Times, London

I do live in Ojai and I do drink coffee, but I'm not sure where Coffee Connection is located. Can you help?

Thanks.
Kenley

I will be saying a fond farewell to old friends and new - flying to New York 26th to play a couple of gigs before returning to London!

This Sunday evening, Bob Ballard and other local singer/songwriters have kindly invited me into their circle to perform a few songs at the Deer Lodge in an open mic eevening (from 8 p.m.)! If I don't see uou there, see you next year!

With huge thanks to John at CC, Jo & Ros (lovely hosts), Lisa (right here), Bob and with best wishes to Matt, Lynn and you all!

Steve

Due to concerns over ash droppings, Bob Ballard has informed me that the Deer Lodge session tomorrow (Sunday) has been cancelled!

I will see you all next summer!

Steve
