Direct from Nepal: save Sunday afternoon (9/17)

logo by Ojai artist Ali-SunI am very pleased to let you know of a really fantastic event on Sunday September 17 that is well worth our community support.  Former Ojai residents Rob Buckley and Sharmila Mali founded Himalayan Healers in Nepal, which trains members of the untouchable caste in the healing arts, and then helps provide them placement opportunities around the world.  Their deferred tuition then goes to help train additional healers, which provides sustainability for operations and growth.

With the help of Jim Aplington and Alice Marine of Lotus Gallery, which imports Nepalese and Tibetan art that directly benefits the artists and artisans, there will be a fundraiser at Casa Barranca this Sunday, September 17.  Sharmila will be in town, leading an evening of original Himalayan art, mini massages, and organic wine tasting all to support the non-profit Himalayan Healers.
