The Price of Dissent: Cornejo Ousted from RCC
BlogaBarbara writes that the SB News-Press is reporting that the Ventura County GOP committee chair Leslie Cornejo was recently ousted from her seat for her support of primary candidate Michael Tenenbaum, who incumbent Elton Gallegly crushed by 61 points two months ago.
Says BlogaBarbara:
One of the main problems with party politics today is that moderates don't often have a voice and there is not much tolerance for different views. In the Democratic or Republican Parties -- especially local party organizations -- you are expected to be to the more left or more right respectively.
I don't think this was a policy decision, it was a political decision. It didn't matter if Tenenbaum was a Jim Jeffords moderate or William Buckley incarnate. He challenged a Republican incumbent. Period. The committee purged a chair who wasn't a loyalist.
hat tip to Lisa Snider for the story
