The Ojai-Nepal Connection

I received the following email from once-and-future(?) Ojai resident Robert Buckley, whose Nepalese healing organization I've written about here, here and here.

Rob and Sharmila are coming back to the States, Ojai included, doing teaching and fundraising, and need some help. Please keep reading, and see if you can provide some assistance or put them in touch with people that can. Contact info at the bottom of the page.

Namaste everyone!

Hope/trust that all is going well for you and yours. All is well here, and the project continues to bloom. What is amazing is finally having our "Sanctuary" open for our students to work at, and for our next student’s trainings. We are also expanding in to a complete Spa facility at our partner location in Nagarkot, the Club Himalaya (one of the best resorts in all of Nepal, and our old friend’s Yogi and Bindu’s place – they have always supported us so much!).

Sharmila and I would like to ask you for some personal help:

Right now we are planning a return to the States for September and are looking forward to seeing everyone again.

We would also like to provide workshop/seminars along with fundraising presentations in massage schools, yoga centers, and spas in Colorado and Southern California, with the idea being we would teach 2 day workshops on Nepali massage and on the indigenous Newari mother’s and baby massage techniques, with an evening fundraising presentation on our project.

By doing this we would hope to pre-book attendees in each location for between $100 to $150 each, in support of the Himalayan Healers project. Further donations at the presentation would be an added bonus. If we can receive a minimum of 10 attendees per location we can really do a lot to help the project. $10,000 will build a new school.

We would also hope that the locations would be willing to provide facilities as an in-kind gift to our cause: Sharmila and I have been working for free on this for almost 2 years!

We could really use some help with local assistance:

- Connecting with massage schools, spas, and yoga centers in your community that would be interested in hosting our seminars;
- Pre-booking as many attendees as possible for each event;
- Connecting with some local media to help publicize our cause;
- Finding a comfortable couch to crash on while we visit, so that as much of the funds raised can go back to our project in Nepal.

If you were interested in helping us put together an event in your community it would be a major help to us and the project, and also a lot of fun!

Please let us know as soon as possible. Our tentative plans are to start the 2nd week of September in Colorado and work our way West. Hopeful stopovers include:

Colorado:
- My hometown, Grand Junction
- Ouray/Telluride
- Glenwood Springs
- Aspen
- Frisco/Breckenridge
- Denver
- Boulder
- Ft. Collins
California:
- Ojai
- Santa Barbara
- LA communities
- San Diego
Nevada/Utah:
- Possibly stopovers between Colorado and California in Park City, and…??

Please let us know if you would like to be involved. Looking forward to seeing everyone again soon!

Health, Happiness, and Peace,

Rob - himalbuckley42@yahoo.com
