sounds exciting, right? okay, maybe my title should have been "FREE CANDY!"
seriously, though...i need help. without divulging too much of my exciting plans, i need to figure out who/what controls the various parking lots in the city. for example, does Vons OWN their parking lot, or does the City say what goes on there? how bout the Ben-Franklin's-to-Midstate-Bank strip? who governs the Nordhoff parking lot? what about the one to the side of Rainbow Bridge?
if anyone knows ANYTHING about any of this, or even knows where a good direction might be, i'd appreciate the tip. i've got something in the works that would affect parking lots, but i need to know who to go to first. (worry not, friends...the ojaipost will be among the first to know).
yours in secrecy and research!

City planning office can tell you property owner name if you have an address.

evan, I believe the landlords own the parking lots related to their particular strip malls. The high school owns their lot. The only parking the city "owns" is probably limited to the street. I'm not aware of a city owned parking lot except maybe the one where the farmer's market is located. The city does, however, regulate all parking lots through the permit plans. In order for a building to obtain a permit they must comply with city regulations like, so many spaces per sq ft, so many handicapped parking spaces, and how big each space must be. All this is my understanding and could be wrong.

from "The City":
Dear Mr. Austin,
This is a response to your e-mail sent to Glenn Hawks in the Public Works Department of the City of Ojai regarding the various parking lots in the City.
The Vons parking lot is owned by Vons. The parking lot by Ben Franklin and Mid-State Bank is owned by the property owner(s) of those buildings. The lot by Rainbow Bridge is owned by the City of Ojai. The Wells Fargo lot is part of the Wells Fargo Bank property. I hope this information is helpful. If I can be of other assistance let me know.
