Ojai's Chain Debate Hits LA Times

Wow, Tyler was the first to break the story of Jersey Mike's coming to town here, and now it's found its way into the LA Times and KESQ TV in Palm Springs! New owner and Ojai resident Dan Burrell is quoted as saying: "I'm going to give it my best shot," he said. "If there are picketers outside, I'm just going to go feed them."

again, excellent work Tyler!!
i'm not exactly sure how i'll approach Jersey Mike's...i think picketing is inherently violent/passive-aggressive. perhaps our neighbor Dan could be invited to read the ojaipost and have a safe place in which to contribute his own thoughts?
on a similar note, does anyone have any hard info on the potential Starbucks going in at the Gaslight restaurant site? anything we can do about that before it happens?

Well, this is cool. Thanks, Lisa!

I heard a blurb about it on KCRW this afternoon.

i put in a phone call to one Dan Burrell of Ojai this afternoon, and left a message politely informing him as to our discussion and inviting him to participate. if he chooses to do so, i would encourage us all to be compassionate as we know how to be, and seek first to understand, then to be understood. this valuable venue for community discussion is of little use for understanding and change if use the near-anonymity of it to give slack to our violent urges.

Wow, that would be awesome to hear from Dan! I think this is a pretty friendly forum.
