Ojai Ventura Voice - Racist? Misogynist? or just plain cruel
I recently was reading the Ojai & Ventura Voice and happened to come across a headline that read "Illegal Alien Gets Screwed" or something to that effect. I was stirred to email this letter to the editor. If you're as impulsed and repulsed as I was, think about contacting the Voice as well. ovvoice@ojai.net
To the Editor of the Ojai & Ventura Voice,
I was reading the recent issue of the Voice and saw a boxed article with the headline "Illegal Alien Gets Screwed". I thought it was a story about a deportation. I was disgusted that a headline such as this was permitted and used, as I read about the arrest of a man for the horrific abduction, drugging, and multiple rape of a young homeless female latino illegal immigrant, . Were you trying to be clever, controversial or simply overtly insensitive, racist and misogynistic? I feel a printed public apology is in order in BIG BOLD CAPITAL LETTERS.
