Wowie, I'm a Nowie!

This weekend, I paid a visit to OJAI CREATES, a gem of a store tucked away on Ventura St. I went there because I wanted to purchase a "Now" clock, like the one displayed on the wall of the room where I experience "Now Bliss" in the form of weekly massage with Heather McKenzie. Since it is my main focus in life mindfully, to live more fully in the Now, to be more present and aware of each moment, and to help my clients find the joy in mindful living, I thought the clock would be a great addition to my "wake-up-to-now" reminders. So, I had a simple intent for my visit to Ojai Creates, but what I discovered was much more.

From the moment I walked in the door of Ojai Creates, I knew it was a place to enjoy. I was greeted with smiles and an offer of peach ginger tea, a "Now" pleasure I gratefully accepted while selecting inspirational greeting cards with "Now" messages galore. When I asked for the "Now" clock, the owner smiled and proclaimed, "Another Nowie!" For some reason, the name made me giggle. Maybe it was because I recognized the tendency we have to label everything, or maybe it was because it sounded like a nickname, like a Yorkie, short for Yorkshire Terrier. I was smiling inside and out as he proceeded to show me all the store has to offer in the way of support to Be Here Now. For me, it was a precious "Ojai Moment", (not the same as the Ojai Pink Moment, but just as precious). Any other Nowies out there? If so, I'd love to hear from you! brook@mindfullifecoach.com

As I grow as a person, I strive to be more and more present, in the moment, and yes, in the Now. I guess I need a clock too. Great first post, Brook, welcome aboard.

Reminds me of the musical question asked by The Smith's in the 80's, "How Soon Is Now?"

Here's a great story about that clock: I was John's first employee at Ojai Creates! (Exclamation point is part of the name of the store). I knew a man named Jeff who made this great clock and then gave it to me - all the numerals were replaced with the word "Now." As John was a huge fan of Eckhart Tolle's The Power of Now, I told him about this great clock I had on my kitchen wall. Not ten minutes later, Jeff, who I hadn't seen in a while and had no idea how to contact, walked into the store. History was made when the two connected and Jeff found an outlet for his fabulous clocks!

I too am a proud owner of a NOW clock, thanks to Synergistic Health. My significant other tries daily to live in the NOW, when he saw the clock he new instantly that I the NON-NOW liver, needed one as well. It currently hangs in my office to remind me daily that NOW is all we have.
